What You'll Create
This class is not just about painting. It's about remembering. The Palestinian people have faced unimaginable loss, and yet their culture, their symbols, and their spirit continue. We paint as an act of witness.
Using acrylic paint and guided instruction, you'll paint the Palestinian flag on canvas, but not just any flag. Each layer of the flag will tell its own story: a sideways watermelon as the red triangle, a wall of bricks in black, a kuffiyeh pattern in black and white, and a green stripe adorned with olive branches. You will leave with a painting that carries meaning far beyond the canvas.
To reflect that commitment beyond the canvas, 50% of proceeds from this class will be donated to World Central Kitchen, a DMV-based nonprofit by Chef Jose Andres, that has been delivering over 1 million hot meals daily in Gaza.
